The first so-called “blakers” were proven to have been manufactured in the 16th century. The metal plates, usually made of brass, copper or even silver, hammered or polished, served as a reflector behind the candle and were intended to double the brightness.
In addition to the polished metal plates, mirrors were also used in the Baroque period to increase reflection.
Therefore is the modern design variant and is cut and folded from a single piece of highly polished stainless steel. This means that the development simultaneously results in a candle holder and a reflective back sign with suspension. The shape means that the candlestick is suitable for both the table and the wall.
