LUDWIG MIES VAN DER ROHE
(RECONSTRUCTION SERGIUS RUEGENBERG)
Table for the pavilion of the German Empire at the World Exhibition in Barcelona
Even before it was rebuilt in 1986, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's pavilion for the German Empire at the World Exhibition in Barcelona was one of the architectural icons of the twentieth century. The armchairs and stools that he designed specifically for this pavilion are design classics par excellence. Mies also designed two matching tables for this Barcelona armchair and stool, but he did not pursue further production because they wobbled so terribly in the pavilion. With today's re-edition, the technical problem has been solved so that the table no longer wobbles and can therefore stand freely from any wall.
